Students will demonstrate their knowledge of muscular strength activities by choosing 12 activities that would improve or maintain this component of fitness.

What is Muscular Strength?

Muscular strength is the ability of the muscle to exert force during an activity. The key to making your muscles stronger is working them against resistance, whether that be from weights or gravity. If you want to gain muscle strength, try exercises such as lifting weights, plyometrics or maybe even rock climbing.

The second and third websites listed below are great sites for learning about strength training activities. A great deal of information is available about each exercise as well as a short video clip demonstrating the exercise. The first website includes plyometric activities that can be done with out weight lifting equipment.

1. Using the websites listed below pick six types of lower body exercises that could be done to develop muscular strength. Three of these should be weight lifting exercises and three should be plyometric or calisthenic exercises.

2. Using the websites listed below pick six types of upper body exercises that could be done to develop muscular strength. Three of these should be weight lifting exercises and three should be plyometric or calisthenic exercises.

2.Type=Upper body- Pullups/ calisthenic
