OUTCOME: To empower transition-age (VECTOR) students to...

  1. To participate in identifying triggers and developing coping strategies with the support of trusted staff.
  2. To develop relationships with key staff in bi-monthly check-ins in order to fully participate in tracking what's working and not working.
  3. Continue to learn more about their disability and its features
  4. To use their speech and language skills to advocate for themselves in a variety of settings and listeners in a timely, clear, and effective manner.  
  5. To develop a repertoire of strategies that would be useful in various environments
  6. To practice targeted strategies in familiar settings with coaching and encouragement from trusted staff
  7. To improve active listening skills and attending to nonverbal cues
  8. To increase focus and intervention around building self-advocacy awareness and skills - 2015-16- pilot the SAI with a selected student group at VECTOR  
  9. To engage a variety of staff in the growth of students
  10. To track self-advocacy skill development across various context of school/work day
