Unit 2: Assignment Submission: Education Essay

Education Essay

It's time for your essay. In the past you may have been told that an essay has 5 paragraphs. That was kid's stuff. It was a great way to get you into the habit of writing and getting the structure down for the 3-Part Essay.

Guess how many parts a 3-Part Essay has?

1. Introduction- Tell the reader about your topic and give a quick preview of what you plan to write about. Grab the reader's attention and get him/her interested in your topic.

2. Body- This is where all of your topics go. Each paragraph should be about a different topic (I've provided those topics for you below). Provide your arguments, start explaining what was in your Introduction and why you think the way you do.

3. Conclusion- Make your conclusions and leave the reader with what you want him/her to know about the topic of Education. Give a summary of what your paper was about.

In this three part paper you should:

  • Define Education through a discussion of your own ideas/experiences.
  • Discuss the government's role in education. What is it and what should it be?
  • What should be changed about our current educational system?

You've got a few options for your submission. You can type your paper in Google Docs and upload the link to it (make sure your sharing settings enable people with the link to view it), or you can type it right here by clicking Edit my submission and typing it into the text box and clicking submit. You may want to type it off site first and then copy/paste the finished version into the submission box.

One last thing, now that you're typing for an English class, your formatting must be correct. Review the Proper Formatting document if necessary. Assignments that do not follow this format will not be accepted.

At the end of your submission, skip a few lines and assign yourself a grade. Why do you think that you've earned that grade? Is there a part of your submission which could be improved?
