Resources

To improve your cardiorespiratory endurance, try activities that keep your heart rate elevated at a safe level for a sustained length of time. The activity you choose does not have to be strenuous to improve your cardiorespiratory endurance. Start slowly with an activity you enjoy, and gradually work up to a more intense pace.

Be sure to look at each of the websites just below.
The first website listed will provide guidelines for developing and maintaining this component of fitness. The second is also helpful. Although it does not directly discuss cardiorespiratory endurance, it does give some helpful information about fitness progression.

Finally, don't forget the FITT principles!
Frequency is the days each week you are working out.
Intensity is the difficulty of the work out.
Time is the amount of minutes in the work out.
Type is the activity you are doing.

To develop or maintain cardiorespiratory endurance levels these principles are the key.
