Othello & Feminist Criticism


There are many ways to view and react to Shakespeare's Othello. It all depends on what type of spectacles you put on. Today, we are going to look at Othello from the feminist point of view. The feminist perspective asks us to look at Othello and assess the equality of women politically, socially and economically. The feminist perspective challenges sexism and those beliefs and practices that result in the oppression of women. When we look at Othello from this type of perspective, it is important to note how the women of this play are treated and stereotyped.
