Unit 6 Future of Communication: Objectives
You've researched the history of the written word, now it's time to make some conclusions about where we're headed. But to do that there are a few issues you'll need to learn about as they have the potential to limit how we use the internet.
Step 1: The first of these issues is Net Neutrality. It's okay if you don't know anything about it; most people don't. At the end of this lesson though, you'll be way more informed about it than the average citizen. Then you can help by telling them why it's important. Step 2: Next, how does the internet work? How is it improving and how does it learn more and more about us every time we click a link or do a search? Click here for the section I've labeled InterWeb2.0TubesNet.com Assignment.
Step 3: The world is changing and most people don't have a clue about how they will keep up. As the rest of the world catches up to the U.S. in terms of economics, technology, life-expectancy, health-care (some have already surpassed the U.S. in these) it's time to consider your place in this world and how you can stay innovative and successful and what kinds of tools you'll use to get there. Step 4: Now it's time for you to make some predictions. You've studied the history and analyzed the present, now it's time to put your Futurist hat on and tell us where you think the future of communication is heading. Step 5: Okay, it's time to wind down and come back to the present. For much of human history, people have blamed technology for our problems. There's even a name for those people: Luddites.
