Writing a Summary Paragraph on a Children's Book
Directions: Read one of the children's books available in class. Using the Story Map 2 graphic organizer, take notes on the book as you read. Write a summary paragraph about the book below. Make sure you use transition and linking words while retelling the story. Use your own words and focus on the main ideas. Remember: Your purpose in writing the summary is to give the basic ideas of the original reading. What was it about and what did the author want to communicate?
