Fitness For Life 1 will enable students to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and maintain a health-enhancing level of fitness and to increase physical competence, self esteem and the motivation to pursue lifelong physical activity.

This unit will be integrated into the Northern Star Online course: Phy Ed A: Skill-Related Fitness

A person's mental state plays an enormous role for athletic success. Sports Psychology 101 will provide an overview of the essential ingredients for athletic excellence. This course will cover the importance of goal setting, relaxation, visualization, establishment of routines, self talk (what to do with your ANTS: automatic negative thoughts), and achieving flow. It will be up to you to integrate and personalize those ingredients during the course for your specific sport.

Welcome to Guided Fitness Study! Each week students will have the opportunity to participate in fitness using on-line resources as well as participate in an individual fitness plan.

This unit will cover communicable and noncommunicable disease information including sexually transmitted infections and diseases. You will be expected to define vocabulary, analyse,compare and contrast diseases, explain how the immune system functions, and describe how to prevent the spread of communicable disease.
